“The Four Falls shattered The Wastes and scattered her people. Remnant tribes guarded the crater rims, hoarding what little remained. Restless from his life of poverty on the western crater’s edge, the loathsome Krygor abandoned his tribe and vanished into the highlands. When he returned, he proclaimed he had found the Ehnanhe—ancient beings thought lost since the Great Fall. Krygor insisted they longed to reunite with the tribes and restore the greatness their shared ancestors had once known.

Varkul trusted neither the tale nor the teller. Still, he followed his brother into the mountains to see the lost ancients for himself. While they searched, the Ehnanhe descended upon the crater and butchered its people. They had promised Krygor reconciliation, but generations of isolation had corrupted them. They blamed humanity for their downfall and intended to erase it.

The brothers returned to a slaughtered camp where a lone Ehnanhe hunter awaited them. Standing among the dead, it mocked them, speaking of hidden paths and celestial guides. Piece by piece, the truth emerged. The Ehnanhe had not found the tribe. Krygor had delivered it to them.

Enraged, Varkul roared at his brother. But before he could close the gap to Krygor, the hunter struck. Armed with his Fallstone mace, Varkul crushed the creature. Knowing his brother’s wrath, Krygor fled through the smoke and stole away into the night. Fallstone burned Ehnanhe flesh as Varkul, barely able to curse his brother through his rage and tears, butchered the beast and tore free its skull and horns.

He wears them still. A reminder that his people would answer to no master. Divided, the tribes were easy prey. United under Varkul, they would reclaim what the Four Falls had failed to destroy.”
